COVID- 19 UPDATE

Like other medical facilities in Uganda, Kiwoko Hospital (KH) is struggling with the increasing number of Covid-19 infections caused by the new SARS-Cov-2 variants world over. Among the various challenges, the hospital is grappling with the high number of staff testing positive, high cost of personal protective equipment (PPEs) as well as inadequate oxygen for managing severe cases. Nonetheless, KH in partnership with the Ugandan Ministry of Health has been at the forefront of combatting this pandemic through sample collection (over 1000 samples collected from staff, local community and patients) in the first wave as well as testing using the RDT rapid testing methodology and vaccinating both staff and local community in the second wave.
