Our first 5 years Story
The best place to receive health care
Treating people with utmost care is our first priority.
We take joy in caring for members of our community and beyond.
Our History
Kiwoko Hospital was founded in 1988 by Dr. Ian Clarke, a General Practitioner that visited the Greater Luwero Triangle. At the time of his visit, Uganda had just suffered several years of civil war where lives were lost, property destroyed and families broken.
Dr. Ian had a vision to make disciples of all nations and to bring life to the full through the provision of community health services. He started work with Rev. Livingstone Bateganya who was then the Archdeacon for Kiwoko Archdeaconry and the local people to provide health care services. This medical work began as a clinic under a tree and subsequently shifted to a dispensary.
The transformation of the clinic into a hospital was inevitable given the much-needed medical needs of the surrounding communities. In 1990, Kiwoko Hospital was registered as a hospital with the Ministry of Health and, was thereafter officially opened by His Excellency the Vice President of The Republic of Uganda, The late Dr. Samson M. Kisekka on the 24th day of September, 1991.
